Merdot Mail is secure, self-hosted business email for teams that want a professional inbox on their own domain · you@yourcompany.com · without handing their communications to a global advertising platform.

Every mailbox runs on our own infrastructure in Amazon Web Services' Mumbai region (ap-south-1), with outbound delivery handled by Amazon SES. You get the essentials done well: reliable sending and receiving, strong spam and abuse protection, generous storage, and support in plain English from a team in the same time zone.

Plans start at ₹59 per mailbox per month (plus 18% GST), billed yearly or half-yearly, so pricing stays simple and predictable as your team grows.

Why we built it

Most "free" email isn't free · you pay with your data. Your messages get scanned, profiled, and monetised, and they live on servers halfway around the world under someone else's rules.

We started Merdot Mail on a simpler promise:

• You own your data. Your mail is yours. Export it, move it, or leave whenever you want · no lock-in, no ransom.
• It stays in India. Your mailboxes are hosted in Mumbai, not shipped overseas, which matters for trust, for latency, and for compliance under India's DPDP Act, 2023.
• No ads, no scanning, no selling. We do not read your mail, scan it to target advertising, or sell it to anyone. That isn't a setting you toggle on · it's how the product is built.

• Self-hosted, on our own terms. We run the platform ourselves on infrastructure we control in India, rather than reselling a black box. Our infrastructure sub-processors are limited and named up front: Amazon Web Services for hosting in Mumbai, and Amazon SES for outbound delivery.
• An Indian company, accountable in India. Merdot is based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. We operate under Indian law · the DPDP Act, 2023, the IT Act, 2000, and GST · and you always have a real company, in your country, to hold to account.
• Privacy by design, not by policy alone. Not reading or monetising your mail isn't a marketing line for us; it's the reason the product exists.
